Title: So Far Yet So Near
Scripture: John 4:46 – 54

I     TO CURE OUR SELF DECEPTION
CRISIS – caused this man (who was rich & powerful) to seek out Jesus.
- It shatters our self-sufficiency.

II   TO CHALLENGE OUR FAITH
Jesus simply spoke. There was no physical, tangible evidence that something was
accomplished. But the man took Jesus at his word and departed. V 50b

III TO CEMENT OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM
John 20:30, 31 are key verses as to why some miracles were recorded – to provoke faith in Jesus.

The progress of the nobleman’s faith:

a. I give a try.
b. I am confronted with the truth.
c. I act on the truth.
d. I live by the truth.

Benevolent neglect: There is a reason for God’s silence. God is purposefully withdrawing to work out a good purpose.
